Costume Methodology 2: Othello

Instructor: Camille Benda

For the second semester for the CalArts Foundation course Methodology our instructor, Camille Benda, had us design costumes for William Shakespeare’s Othello. My personal challenge this time around was to tackle the story in an unconventional way, so I decided to shift the setting to 70’s New York with a story partially inspired by the story of Sly and the Family Stone. This was my first time drawing sketches properly as I continue to develop my art skills. I added semblances of faces as I learn how to draw, but I still feel that it has a lot of personality in it.
